Agriculture, forestry and fishery

Agricultural statistics collect and publish data on primary agricultural production and changes in its volume (crop and livestock production). All agricultural statistics data are harmonized with EUROSTAT standards; therefore they are internationally comparable.

In order to provide agricultural statistics data, among other things, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia conducts annual surveys on a sample of selected agricultural holdings: the Survey on sown areas at the end of spring sowing and the Survey on the number of pigs are conducted in the period May-June, while the Survey on Agricultural Production (crop and livestock production) is conducted in the period November-December of the current year. The surveys are conducted on a sample of approximately 16 000 agricultural holdings. Data on agricultural holdings (family, entrepreneurial and legal entities) are collected by self-survey method (holdings of legal entities) by entering data into a web questionnaire on the SORS website, while data for family agricultural holdings and entrepreneurial holdings are collected by telephone survey from the SORS headquarters or by field survey, engaging trained interviewers.

In order to provide structural data in the field of agriculture, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia conducts the Agricultural Census in ten- year periodicity and the Survey on the Structure of Agricultural Holdings every three years between two Agricultural Censuses.

This area also collects and publishes statistical data on fisheries and forestry, and calculates the Economic Accounts in Agriculture, which represents an analysis of agricultural production and the income generated from it.
