The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January-March 2024 amounted to:
- USD 17715.6 million - which was a decrease of 1.2% compared to the same period last year;
- EUR 16306.3 million - which was a decrease of 2.6% compared to the same period last year.
The value of exports amounted to USD 7801.4 million, which was 0.2% decrease when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 9914.2 million, which was 2.0% decrease relative to the same period last year.
Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 7179.8 million, which was 1.6% decrease, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 9126.5 million, which was 3.3% decrease when compared to the same period last year.
The deficit amounted to USD 2112.8 million, which was a decrease of 8.0% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 1946.7 million, which was a decrease of 9.1% compared to the same period last year.
The export - import ratio equalled 78.7% and was higher if compared to the same period last year when it was 77.3%.
The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 61.0% of total external trade.
Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 735.5 million, resulting from the exports of cereals and produces thereof, electricity, road vehicles, beverages and oil and oil derivatives. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 1119.3 million, while the imports were USD 383.8 million. The export– import ratio equalled 291.6 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 1030.5 and imports to 353.4 million (surplus amounted to EUR 677.1 million and export – import ratio equalled 291.6%).
