Border traffic of passenger motor vehicles and passengers, II Quarter 2023


The total number of passenger road motor vehicles that entered the Republic of Serbia in the second quarter 2023 decreased by 4.5%, compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of vehicles registered in our country decreased by 3.0%, while the number of vehicles registered abroad decreased by 5.5%. Among foreign vehicles, the largest number was registered in Germany, 7.7%, Austria, 6.3% and in Hungary, 5.1%.

The exit of passenger road motor vehicles from the Republic of Serbia increased by 7.0% compared to the same period 2022. The exit of vehicles registered in the country decreased by 1.8%, while in the same period, the exit of vehicles with foreign registration plates increased by 14.2%. The largest number of vehicles was registered in Hungary, 10.8%, then in Germany, 6.5%, and Bosnia and Herzegovina 3.6%.

The total number of passengers that entered Serbia by all modes of transport during the second quarter 2023 decreased by 2.1% in comparison to the same period previous year. The number of passengers in vehicles registered in Serbia decreased by 3.9%, while in vehicles with foreign registration plates, it decreased by 1.2%.

The total number of passengers that exited from Serbia in the second quarter 2023 increased by 3.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The number of passengers in domestic vehicles decreased by 2.3%, while the number of passengers in vehicles with foreign registration plates increased by 5.8%.

The largest number of vehicles entered through the border crossings with Croatia, 29.8%, then through Bosnia and Herzegovina, 25.5%, and with Hungary, 17.1%. The largest number of vehicles entered Serbia through the following border crossings: Batrovci, 15.8%, Preševo, 10.3%, and Horgoš, 10.2%.

The largest number of vehicles in the second quarter 2023, when compared to the second quarter 2022, entered the country using the border crossing stations Kelebija and Vatin, and the number of vehicles that exited at the border crossing stations Jabuka and Horgoš had the largest share (%) if related to the other border crossing stations.

The largest number of passenger road motor vehicles exited through the border crossings with Croatia, 25.8%, then with Bosnia and Herzegovina, 23.6%, and Hungary, 16.0%. Three border crossings with the most frequent traffic of passenger transport vehicles in exit from the Republic of Serbia were: Batrovci, 13.3%, then Preševo, 11.3%, and Horgoš, 11.0%.
