The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for January - March 2026 amounted to:

   - USD 22272.2 million - which was an increase of 15.1% compared to the same period last year;

   - EUR 19027.6 million - which was an increase of 3.3% compared to the same period last year.

In the 1^st quarter of 2026, real GDP increased by 3.0% in comparison to the corresponding period of the previous year.

The calculation of quarterly GDP for the 1^st quarter 2026, which is more detailed and compiled at lower levels of aggregation, will be published in statistical release Quarterly GDP in the Republic of Serbia on June 1, 2026.

In the Republic of Serbia, in March 2026, compared to March 2025, number of tourist arrivals was by 10.1 % greater, while number of tourist overnight stays was by 8.5 % greater.

In March 2026, compared to March 2025, the number of overnight stays of domestic tourists was by 10.0 % greater while number of overnight stays of foreign tourists was by 7.2% greater.

The industrial production in March 2026 increased by 6.4% relative to March 2025.

Retail trade turnover in the Republic of Serbia in March 2026, compared to the same month last year, increased by 15.5% at current prices and by 14.0% at constant prices.

Retail trade turnover in March 2026, compared with 2025 average, decreased by 8.9% at current prices, and by 8.3% at constant prices.

Total number of employed in the first quarter of 2026 amounted to 2 355 857 persons. Relative to the same quarter of the previous year, total registered employment decreased by 9 037 persons.

The sections of activity with the largest decrease in the number of the employed are Manufacturing (decreased by 15 937 persons), Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (decreased by 3 495 persons), Mining and quarrying (decreased by 722 persons) and Agriculture, foresty and fishing (decreased by 612 persons).

Number of live births in the Republic of Serbia in the period January-March 2026 amounted to 14 166. Compared with the same period of the previous year, when the number of live births was 13 671, noted was the increase in live births by 495 i.e. 3.6%.

Number of deaths in the Republic of Serbia in the period  January-March 2026 amounted to 25 566, and if related to the same period of the previous year, when it was 26 197, it recorded decrease by 631, or 2.4%.

Average gross salaries and wages calculated for February 2026 amounted to 160 067 RSD, while average net salaries and wages amounted to 116 127 RSD.

Average net salaries and wages, in the period January-February 2026, relative to the same period last year increased by 11.2% in nominal terms, and 8.5% in real terms.

Median net salaries and wages for February 2026 amounted to 91 399 RSD, meaning that 50% of employees realised wages and salaries up to the mentioned amount.
