In 2021/22 school year, total of  223 559 children attended preschool education and upbringing.

There were 53 981 (24.1%) children aged from six months up to 3 years and 169 578 (75.9%) children from 3 years up to the age of starting school.

Compulsory preparatory preschool program (PPP) was attended by 63 719 children, i.e. 30 734 girls and 32 985 boys.

Participation rate in compulsory preparatory preschool program is 97.8%.
