Preschool education and upbringing

Statistics of pre-school education provides data on the number and capacity of pre-school institutions, number of educational groups, age and sex of children and length of stay, language of performing the activity, on children with disabilities and on employees by sex, working hours, level of education and type of job.

17. April 2026. Preschool education, 2026

In 2025/26 school year, total of 235 319 children attended preschool education and upbringing. Out of them, there were 114 148 girls (48.5%) and 121 171 boys (51.5%). There were 59 902 (25.5%) children aged from six months up to 3 years and 175 417 (74.5%) children from 3 years up to the age of starting school.
