For six years in a row, on October 20th celebrated is the European Statistics Day. Using the long-standing slogan - Better data. Better lives, attention is again focused on the importance of statistics and statistical data.
The global confrontation over the COVID 19 pandemic has highlighted the problem facing modern society - extremely rapid spread of both information and disinformation. In such circumstances, it is particularly important to have reliable and up-to-date data - data that users trust. That is why the motto of this year's European Statistics Day is: "Statistics, a vaccine to protect democracy and fight the virus of disinformation".
Despite the pandemic and the difficulties that statistics face on a global level, thanks to the efforts and commitment of all employees, SORS is consistent in its mission - connecting and coordinating all producers of official statistics, developing cooperation with international institutions and organizations and, above all - creating and publishing relevant, impartial, reliable, timely and internationally comparable statistics.
