External trade, current period and October 2019


The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January - October 2019 amounted to:

   - USD 38249.8 million - which was an increase of 1.4% compared to the same period 2018;

   - EUR 34095.9 million - which was an increase of 7.5% compared to the same period 2018.

The value of exports amounted to USD 16385.6 million, which was 1.1% increase when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 21864.2 million, which was 1.6% increase relative to the same period last year.

Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 14607.7 million, which was the increase of 7.3%, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 19488.2 million, which was 7.8% increase when compared to the same period last year.

The deficit amounted to USD 5478.6 million, which was an increase of 3.1% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 4880.5 million, which was an increase of 9.2% compared to the same period last year.

The export - import ratio equaled 74.9% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 75.3%.

The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 62.5% of total external trade.

Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 1907.3 million, resulting mainly from the exports of agricultural products (cereals and produces thereof), oil and oil derivatives, electrical machines and apparatus, road vehicles and beverages. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 2787.2 million, while the imports were USD 879.9 million. The export– import ratio equaled 316.8 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 2485.6 and imports to 784.8 million (surplus amounted to EUR 1700.8 million and export – import ratio equaled 316.7%).
