External trade, April 2019


The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January - April 2019 amounted to:
   - USD 14679.5 million - which was a decrease of 0.2% compared to the same period 2018;
   - EUR 12958.6 million - which was an increase of 8.3% compared to the same period 2018.

The value of exports amounted to USD 6242.5 million, which was 1.1% decrease when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 8437.0 million, which was 0.4% increase relative to the same period last year.

Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 5510.5 million, which was the increase of 7.3%, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 7448.1 million, which was 9.0% increase when compared to the same period last year.

The deficit amounted to USD 2194.4 million, which was an increase of 5.2% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 1937.7 million, which was an increase of 14.2% compared to the same period last year.

The export - import ratio equalled 74.0% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 75.2%.

The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 64.0% of total external trade.

Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 681.4 million, resulting mainly from the exports of agricultural products (cereals and produces thereof), road vehicles, , electrical machines and apparatus, iron and steel and metal products. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 1009.1 million, while the imports were USD 327.7 million. The export– import ratio equalled 307.9 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 891.3 and imports to 289.5 million (surplus amounted to EUR 601.8 million and export – import ratio equalled 307.9%).
