Director of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, Branko Josipović, participated in the high-level conference “Harnessing geospatial information for enhanced statistical production and dissemination to support EU integration”, held on 24 September 2026 in Chișinău. The conference was organised by the National Bureau of Statistics of the Republic of Moldova with the support of Eurostat. 

The event brought together representatives of national statistical institutes, geospatial authorities, Eurostat and international organisations to exchange experiences and explore ways to strengthen the integration of statistical and geospatial information. Discussions focused on improving statistical production and dissemination, aligning geospatial data with European and international standards, and making greater use of integrated data to support evidence-informed policymaking. 

As part of the session dedicated to strengthening statistical production and dissemination, Director Branko Josipović presented Serbia’s experience with successful data integration applications and projects supporting policymaking, including the integration of geospatial information and the development of statistical portals. 

The conference provided an opportunity for the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia to present national practices and exchange knowledge with European and international partners on the further development of modern, accessible and spatially enabled official statistics.
