Mapping Potential for Better Local-Level Decision-Making – Data Analysis and Definition of New Indicators

As part of the project “EU4SORS – Development of a Modern Statistical System”, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia is organizing the workshop “Mapping Potential: Defining a New Framework of Indicators for the Local Level”, taking place from 11 to 13 May 2026 in Novi Sad.

Following the successful field survey on data needs in the areas of economy, society and environmental protection, the workshop represents an important phase in the development of the Decision-Making Support System at Local Level.

During the workshop, an intensive analysis of the collected data is being carried out with the aim of precisely identifying the needs of local self-governments and regional chambers of commerce. The obtained results will serve as the basis for defining clear and measurable indicators that will be incorporated into the development of a future local data portal in the next phase.

The future portal will enable local-level decision-makers to access relevant, reliable and timely data quickly and easily, through the application of modern analytical and IT solutions.

Special emphasis is placed on integrating expert knowledge and modern technological tools into data processing and analysis, as well as on the practical application of results through the development of interactive analytical tools.

The workshop brings together representatives of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, methodologists and IT experts, with the aim of jointly creating a sustainable and functional system of indicators.

The project “EU4SORS – Development of a Modern Statistical System” is predominantly funded by the European Union (85.71%) and co-funded by the Government of the Republic of Serbia (14.29%).
