As part of the EU4SORS project - Development of a Modern Statistical System - the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia is organizing a training course for field researchers/in-depth interviewers on Zlatibor from March 24 to 27, 2026, for the Survey on Data Required for the Construction of a Decision – Making Support System at the National Level.
The aim of the training is to prepare field researchers to conduct the Survey that identifies the needs of institutions for data and indicators relevant to decision-making and public policy creating at the national level. During the training, the methodological framework of the Survey, the structure and logic of the semi-structured questionnaire, interview techniques with institutional representatives, as well as practical aspects of organizing fieldwork were presented.
Special attention is paid to practical exercises and interview simulations, as well as the use of applications for data collection, quality control and recording the context of the collected information. Through interactive work and analysis of real situations, training participants acquired additional knowledge and skills necessary for the successful implementation of the Survey.
During the opening of the training, it was emphasized that official statistics play a key role in providing reliable and comparable data that serve as the basis for evidence-based decision-making and public policy creation. It was also emphasized that Survey on the data needed to build a Decision- Making Support System is an important step towards strengthening analytical support to institutions in the processes of planning, monitoring and public policies evaluating.
Through direct cooperation with institutions, the Survey aims to identify priority needs for data and indicators, so that statistical data can be further adapted to the real needs of decision-makers. The results will form the basis for the development of a Decision Support System at the national level, which will enable the integration of data from various statistical and administrative sources, as well as the development of modern analytical tools and indicators.
The development of this system should provide institutions with access to integrated, methodologically harmonized and analytically relevant data in one place, thus creating conditions for fact-based decision-making, with greater efficiency, transparency and public policies’ quality.
The training is implemented within the EU4SORS project - Development of a Modern Statistical System, within the subcomponent "Decision Support System at the National Level (DMSS NL)", which is part of the IPA 2022 national program. The project is mostly financed by the European Union (85.71%) and co-financed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia (14.29%).
