Kyrgyzstan Advances Digitalization: IST Web (CAWI) Integrated into Existing IST Desktop Operations

The IST Team is proud to announce that the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (NSC KG) has officially launched IST Web into full production on 30 November 2025, marking a major milestone in the country’s transition to electronic reporting. The announcement was published on NSC’s official Instagram channel.

This achievement concludes an 18-month collaboration between NSC KG, the IST Team, and GOPA Consultants under the World Bank TASSMP Twinning Project, specifically within the activity dedicated to introducing digital, metadata-driven electronic data collection. The launch directly supports the Digital Transformation Concept 2024–2028 (Presidential Decree №90) and is fully aligned with the newly introduced Digital Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.

IST Desktop has already been in production since January 2025, and the platform is now running more than 80 surveys in operational use across the NSC statistical system. The introduction of IST Web marks the start of CAWI (web-based) data collection in production, completing the integrated multi-mode data collection environment envisioned for NSC KG.

Respondents can now submit their statistical reports electronically after completing registration and receiving secure access credentials from their local territorial statistical office.

The IST Team supported NSC KG throughout the entire process:

  • initial study visits and capacity building in Belgrade (Serbia),
  • weekly technical sessions for installation, configuration and survey migration,
  • development workshops for local IT staff,
  • and structured user trainings for statisticians and regional offices.

The successful go-live demonstrates the readiness of NSC KG to adopt fully digital reporting channels and confirms IST’s role as a modern, scalable platform for national statistical production. We congratulate the NSC team for their dedication and professionalism, and we look forward to continuing our cooperation as more surveys transition to the IST environment.
