Belgrade, 9–10 September 2025

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with UNECE, hosted the UNECE Workshop on Modernizing Statistical Legislation at Microsoft’s new premises in Novi Beograd. The event gathered over 60 participants from across the globe, including representatives of national statistical offices, academia, and international organizations, and was also broadcast online.

Across two days, participants discussed the future of the Generic Law on Official Statistics, global data governance, and the legal and ethical dimensions of Artificial Intelligence in official statistics. The workshop provided a dynamic platform for sharing experiences and shaping the roadmap for modern, forward-looking statistical legislation.
