On the occasion of its 145th anniversary, the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria (NSI), in cooperation with Eurostat, organised the High-Level Conference “EU Enlargement: The Role of Comparable and Reliable Official Statistics” on 11–12 September 2025 in Burgas.
The event brought together Directors General of National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) from candidate and potential candidate countries, EU member states, and representatives of Eurostat. Discussions centred on the role of reliable and comparable statistics in EU accession, including statistical alignment with the European Statistical System (ESS), regional cooperation, and sharing of best practices.
At the invitation of NSI Bulgaria, the Director of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia participated as one of the panelists, contributing to the exchange of views on challenges and solutions in statistical legislation and practice.
The programme also included a SEECP session, highlighting opportunities for strengthened regional collaboration under Bulgaria’s Chairmanship-in-Office of SEECP (2025–2026).
