Cooperation Agreement Signed with the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation

Branko Josipović, Acting Director of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, and Academician Bela Balint, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, signed a Cooperation Agreement on June 3, 2025, which will serve as the basis for further joint activities. The aim of the agreement is to improve the systematic approach to the processing and exchange of data of importance for scientific research and innovation activities.

"The agreement represents the basis for future joint projects and support in international reporting, as well as for a stronger contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals. The cooperation between the Ministry and the Office will contribute to opening up new opportunities for data use, including the development of an open data infrastructure and digital tools that will serve both the scientific community and decision-makers... The Office produces a large amount of data in which it is sometimes very difficult for users to get the right information. This agreement also defines certain processes that we will implement together, with the aim of obtaining information, leading composite indicators, from a multitude of data. This way of working will enable the Ministry and the Office to work better, more efficiently and more precisely when it comes to data using”, said Branko Josipović.

"The cooperation between our Ministry and the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, based on the principles of equality, conscientiousness and mutual respect, will enable the exchange of knowledge, experiences and data in accordance with the highest standards of data protection and statistical confidentiality... This agreement is not just a formal act - it is an expression of our joint commitment to the Republic of Serbia being a country that bases its decisions on knowledge, evidence and transparency. I believe that this cooperation will contribute not only to the more efficient work of our institutions, but also to a better understanding of the needs of our society, especially in areas of key importance for the future, such as science and innovation," emphasized Minister Academician Balint.

Signing of the Cooperation Agreement was attended by, from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation - Aleksandra Šuvaković, PhD, State Secretary, Ivana Vukašinović, Assistant Minister Milica Stijačić and Nevena Mitrović, Assistant Director of SORS, in charge of the Development Sector.
