Total transport of passengers and goods, 1 st Half 2023


Number of transported passengers in the first six months of 2023, relative to the same period 2022, increased by 13.1%, whereof number of passengers in domestic transport increased by 10.7% and in international transport, by 45.4%. In air transport, increase of 87.2% was recorded, while in road transport, it increased by 7.0%. Referring to passengers in railway transport, increase of 141.5% was noted. Operations volume, expressed in pkm, increased by 33.9%. Goods transported in the first half of 2023 decreased by 2.2%, relative to the same period 2022. Regarding the same period, expressed in tkm, operations volume decreased by 1.0%. Air transport and road transport recorded increase in quantity of transported goods, while inland waterway, pipeline and railway transport noted decrease.

Road passenger transport increased relative to the first half of the previous year, with volume operations growth of 5.4%. Referring to the road transport of goods, there was an increase of 9.7%, and operations volume noted decrease of 5.8%, expressed in tkm and relative to the same period 2022.

Air transport expressed increase referring to passengers transport. Number of transported passengers increased by 87.2% and realized passenger kilometres increased by 90.7%. Transported goods increased by 13.2% and operations volume, expressed in tkm, noted increase of 10.1%.

Increased number of transported passengers in railway transport in the first half of 2023 amounted to 47.8%. Recorded was the increased number of transported passengers in domestic transport by 48.2%, as well as in international transport, where the increase of 28.8% was noted. In the same period goods transport showed the decrease of 17.2%. Operations volume, expressed in tkm, noted decrease of 22.9% relative to the same period 2022.

Inland waterways transport noted decrease regarding transported quantities of goods, by 9.6% and regarding operations volume expressed in tkm, it decreased by 8.6%.

The oil transport via pipelines decreased by 4.6% regarding the transported oil quantities and it decreased by 5.9% regarding the tkm made. The natural gas transport decreased by 9.0%.

In the border traffic of entering road passengers’ vehicles in the first half of 2023 recorded was increase of number of vehicles with Serbian registration plates by 0.5%, if compared to the same period 2022. Out of the total number of vehicles with foreign registration plates that came into Serbia, the majority referred to those from Germany and Austria.

Postal services in the first half of 2023 compared to the same period 2022 noted the decrease: letter mails decreased by 18.4%, and parcels noted increase of 72.6%. Payment traffic services decreased by 4.6%.

Fixed telephony noted decrease of 17.6%, and mobile telephony decrease of 1.2%.

Total number of the employed in transport section decreased by 1.3% respective to the same period of the previous year.
