Total transport of passengers and goods, 1st Half 2021


Number of transported passengers in the first six months of 2021, relative to the same period 2020, increased by 12.2%, whereof number of passengers in domestic transport increased by 13.1% and in international transport, it decreased by 4.7%. In air transport, increase of 6.3% was recorded, while in road transport, it increased to 12.0%. Referring to passengers railway transport, increase of 18.5% was noted. Operations volume, expressed in pkm, increased by 6.2%. Goods transported in the first half of 2021 noted growth of 37.2%, relative to the same period 2020. Regarding the same period, expressed in tkm, operations volume increased by 29.9%. Air transport, inland waterway transport, pipeline and road transport recorded increase in quantity of transported goods, while railway transport noted decrease. Increase in quantity of transported goods in road and pipeline transport is partly caused by the fact that increased was the number of reporting units.

Road passenger transport increased relative to the first half of the previous year, with volume operations growth of 0.5%. Referring to the road transport of goods, there was an increase of 47.1%, and operations volume noted increase of 31.9%, expressed in tkm and relative to the same period 2020.

Air transport expressed increase referring to passengers transport. Number of transported passengers increased by 6.3%, and realized passenger kilometres increased by 20.6%. Transported goods increased by 12.7% and operations volume, expressed in tkm, noted increase of 2.9%.

Increased number of transported passengers in railway transport in the first half of 2021 amounted to 18.5%. Recorded was the increased number of transported passengers in domestic transport by 18.1%, while in international transport, the increase of 36.4% was noted. In the same period goods transport showed the decrease of 8.5%. Operations volume, expressed in tkm, noted decrease of 5.3% relative to the same period 2020.

Inland waterways transport noted increase regarding transported quantities of goods, by 365.5% and regarding operations volume expressed in tkm, it increased by 273.5%. However, it should be noted that it is partially due to the increased number of the reporting units and therefore, these data should be considered with slight caution.

The oil transport via pipelines increased by 6.7% regarding the transported oil quantities and it increased by 7.1% regarding the tkm made. The natural gas transport increased by 20.2%.

In the border traffic of entering road passengers’ vehicles in the first half of 2021 was recorded increase of number of vehicles with Serbian registration plates by 45.4%, if compared to the same period 2020. Out of the total number of vehicles with foreign registration plates that came into Serbia, the majority referred to those from Hungary and Germany.

Postal services in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period 2020 noted the increase: letter mails increased by 3.1%, and parcels noted increase of 17.5%. Payment traffic services decreased by 8.3%.

Fixed telephony noted decrease of 19.8%, and mobile telephony increase of 2.3%.

Total number of the employed in transport section decreased by 4.0% respective to the same period of the previous year.
