In 2020 in the Republic of Serbia there were 23 599 marriages, a fall of 33.6% relative to the previous year. At the same time, 18 209 concluded first marriages indicate a fall of 35.2% when compared to 2019. The number of marriages per 1 000 population amounted to 3.4. The average age at the time of marriage for grooms was 34.8 and for brides 31.5 years.

In 2020 there were 8 687 divorces, by 20.3% less than in the previous year. The number of divorces per 1 000 population was 1.3. The average age for husbands at divorce was 44.5 and for wives 41.0 years.
