Urban wastewater, 2020

 

Total quantity of urban wastewater in 2020 decreased by 0.7%, relative to the referent period 2019, of which the amount of wastewater discharged into wastewater collecting system decreased by 1.3% relative to 2019. The amount of wastewater discharged into septic tanks increased by 1.0% compared to 2019.

Regarding wastewater discharge into public sewerage system in 2020, compared to 2019, households discharged by 0.7% less wastewater, wastewater discharged from the industrial sector[3] noted the decrease of 12.9%, while other users[4] discharged by 3.4% more wastewater.

In 2020, treated wastewater increased by 16.5% compared to 2019 and the most frequently applied method was secondary treatment.

Wastewater collecting system in 2020 is by 1.8% longer relative to 2019, while the number of new connections to the system increased by 4.2% compared to 2019.

 

[3] Discharged quantities of wastewater from industrial sector include the following CA sectors: Mining and quarrying, Manufacturing, Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply. 

[4] Discharged quantities of wastewater from other users encompass the following CA sectors: Agriculture, forestry and fishing, Construction and Other service activities.
