Industrial production indices, February 2020


The industrial production in the Republic of Serbia in February 2020 increased by 7.6% relative to February 2019, and decreased by 0.8% relative to 2019 average. Industrial production in the period January – February 2020 increased by 7.0% compared to the same period last year.

Observed by sections,

In February 2020 compared with February 2019, the following trends were noted:

  • the section of mining and quarrying– growth of 15.6%,
  • the section of manufacturing– growth of 8.6%, and
  • the section of section of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – growth of 1.1%.

The data on industrial production by MIGS in February 2020, compared to February 2019, expressed growth in the production of:

  • durable consumer goods, by 12.6%,
  • capital goods, by 11.7%,
  • non - durable consumer goods, by 11.7%,
  • intermediate products, energy excluded, by 8.8%,
  • energy, by 1.6%.

Industrial production volume in February 2020, compared to February 2019, expressed the following trends:

  • growth in 22 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 82%,
  • fall in 7 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 18%.

 

The largest influence on industrial production growth in February 2020 compared to February 2019 had the divisions of: manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, manufacture of food products, manufacture of electrical equipment and exploitation of metal ores.

The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for February 2020, compared to 2019 average, indicates 2.6% growth of the overall industrial production and 4.4% growth of manufacturing.

The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for February 2020, compared to January 2020 average, indicates 1.3% fall of the overall industrial production and 1.2% fall of manufacturing.

The production of small-size enterprises (the number of employees less than 50) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is followed on a sample of the selected units of the section of manufacturing. When the assessment of the industrial production of small-size enterprises of the sample is included, the overall industrial production in February 2020 compared to 2019 average decreased by 0.7% and manufacturing decreased by 3.7%.

The data on the industrial production in 2020 will be published on the last working day in a month and will refer to the previous month.

 

Starting from 1999 the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has not at disposal and may not provide available certain data relative to AP Kosovo and Metohia and therefore these data are not included in the coverage for the Republic of Serbia (total).
