In 2018 there were 36 321 marriages and 29 005 first marriages recorded in the Republic of Serbia. The number of total marriages saw a slight increase of 0.8% compared with the previous year, and that of first marriages grew by 0.3%. The number of marriages per 1 000 population amounted to 5.2. The average age at the time of marriage for grooms was 34.2 and for brides 31.1 years.

In 2018 there were 9 995 divorces, by 7.9% more than in the previous year. The number of divorces per 1 000 population was 1.4. The average age for husbands at divorce was 44.1 and for wives 40.5 years.
