In the organization of Social inclusion and poverty reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the World Bank, presented were the results of the Survey “Map of poverty in Serbia – Findings and implications on public policy”.
The Survey is the result of mutual work of the World Bank and the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia. Modelling and data analysis were conducted by the experts of the World Bank and final poverty estimates, based on 2011 Census of population, households and dwellings and 2013 Survey on income and living conditions, by the experts from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that, for every society, it is significant to obtain the poverty estimations, as well as to understand structural changes of poverty in time. These were the exact achieved goals of the mentioned Project – maps of poverty have been created, for the first time, on the level of municipalities and towns of Serbia, thus providing adequate and targeted activities’ selection in this area, with the possibility of measuring their effects on local level as well.
