In the Republic of Serbia, in 2017, the procedure upon criminal reports was completed for 90 348 adult perpetrators of criminal offenses, which is by 6% less than in 2016. 31 759 adult persons were convicted, which is by 2% less when compared to the previous year. In 2017, the largest number of criminal offenses for which adult persons were legally convicted concerned criminal offenses against property (32.5%), marriage and family (13.9%), and human health (11.5%). Two persons were sentenced to 40 years’ imprisonment. The prison sentence made 25.9% of all sentences, and the conditional sentence (imprisonment) made 56.5%.
