Аcting director of the SORS, Branko Josipović, at the IV CIS International Statistical Forum in Yerevan

The IV CIS International Statistical Forum “New Methods and Technologies in Statistics” was held in Yerevan, Armenia, on 1–2 October 2026, organized by the CIS Statistical Committee in cooperation with the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia (Armstat). 

The Forum brought together high-level representatives of national statistical offices and international organizations to exchange experiences and best practices in the modernization of official statistics. Discussions focused on the development of modern statistical systems, data quality, the use of administrative registers and big data, as well as the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in official statistics.

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia was represented by аcting director Branko Josipović, who participated in the session “Prospects for AI in Official Statistics.” Director Josipović delivered the presentation “Early Warning and Risk Assessment for the Economy: An AI-Assisted Analytical Service at the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia”. His presentation highlighted the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia’s approach to applying Artificial Intelligence to economic analysis and early-warning mechanisms, demonstrating how modern analytical technologies can support the timely identification and assessment of economic risks.

The Forum provided an important platform for discussing new data sources, advanced technologies and innovative methodological solutions, while encouraging stronger international cooperation and knowledge exchange among statistical institutions.
