Number of live births in the Republic of Serbia in the period January-September 2026 amounted to 43 300. Compared with the same period of the previous year, when the number of live births was 43 216, noted was the increase in live births by 84 i.e. 0.2%.

Number of deaths in the Republic of Serbia in the period  January-September 2026 amounted to  70 073, and if related to the same period of the previous year, when it was 70 159, it recorded decrease by 86, or 0.1%.

Average gross salaries and wages calculated for August 2026 amounted to 161 953 RSD, while average net salaries and wages amounted to 117 282 RSD.

Average net salaries and wages, in the period January-August 2026, relative to the same period last year increased by 11.4% in nominal terms, and 8.5% in real terms.

Median net salaries and wages for August 2026 amounted to 93 325 RSD, meaning that 50% of employees realised wages and salaries up to the mentioned amount.

The output in the environmental goods and services sector in 2024 amounted to RSD 263 298 million, gross value added to RSD 76 274 million, total number of employees to 35 314,  expressed in full-time equivalent, and exports to RSD 32 102 million.

“European Statistics at a crossroad: priorities, opportunities and constraints”

European Statistics Day is celebrated on 20 October, and this year marks its 10th anniversary. To mark the occasion, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has prepared a video presentation entitled “Serbia and Europe in Figures”, which compares Serbia and the European Union using selected statistical indicators.

In August 2026, the number of 2 443 building permits was issued, presenting the decrease of 3.9% when compared to August 2025. Out of the total number of permits issued in August 2026, 82.2% related to buildings, and 17.8% to civil engineering constructions. When only buildings are concerned, 84.5% of permits related to residential buildings, and 15.5% to non–residential ones, while regarding civil engineering constructions the largest number related to pipelines, communication and electric power lines (66.5%).

In the Republic of Serbia in 2025, a total of 11 566 book and brochure titles were published, representing a 10,6% decrease compared to the previous year.

The greatest number of published books and brochures related to the area of linguistics, philology and literature – 46.2%, then to the area of social sciences – 25.0%.

83.8% of books and brochures were published in Serbian language, while editions in other languages and multilingual editions encompassed 16.2%.

Producer prices of agricultural and fishing products in August 2026, compared to the same month of 2025 were decreased by 8.7% average.

Prices of goods and services used for personal consumption in September 2026 in relation to August 2026 increased by 0.2% on average.
