The industrial production in the Republic of Serbia in August 2019 increased by 0.5% relative to August 2018. Industrial production in the period January – August 2019, compared with the same period 2018, decreased by 1.0%.

Observed by sections,

in August 2019 compared with August 2018, the following trends were noted:

• the section of mining and quarrying – growth of 17.5%,
• the section of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – growth of 4.5%, and
• the section of manufacturing – fall of 1.8%.

The data on industrial production by MIGS in August 2019, compared to August 2018, expressed growth in the production of:

• energy, by 6.6%, and
• non-durable consumer goods, by 0.1%,

while fall was noted in the production of

• intermediate products, energy excluded, by 1.8%,
• durable consumer goods, by 3.8%, and
• capital goods, by 8.2%,

Industrial production volume in August 2019, compared to August 2018, expressed the following trends:

• growth in 13 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 43%, and
• fall in 16 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 57%.

The largest influence on industrial production growth in August 2019 compared to August 2018 had the divisions of: manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, coal exploitation, generation of electricity and other manufacturing.

The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for August 2019, compared to 2018 average, indicates 0.1% growth of the overall industrial production and 0.2% fall of manufacturing.

The production of small-size enterprises (the number of employees less than 50) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is followed on a sample of the selected units of the section of manufacturing. When the assessment of the industrial production of small-size enterprises of the sample is included, the overall industrial production in August 2019 compared to 2018 average decreased by 4.2% and manufacturing decreased by 3.5%.

The data on the industrial production in 2019 will be published on the last working day in a month and will refer to the previous month.
