Income in money and in kind and individual consumption of households, 2018


The survey collects the data on income, expenditure and household consumption, i.e. the data on basic elements of individual consumption.

In 2018, average monthly income in money and in kind per household (all households) amounted to 63734 RSD, and relative to 2017, it is the increase of 3.8% in nominal terms. Average monthly income in money and in kind of the households in the urban area amounted to 65815 RSD (3.0% increase, nominally, relative to 2017), while average monthly income in money and in kind of the households from other area amounted to 60349 RSD (5.2% increase, nominally, relative to 2017).

The individual consumption expenditures of the households, in 2018 (all households) amounted to 64481 RSD, and relative to 2017, this was the increase of 3.5% in nominal terms. The individual consumption expenditures of the households in the urban area, in 2018, amounted to 66135 RSD (increase of 3.3%, nominally, relative to 2017), while individual consumption expenditures of the households from other area amounted to 61777 RSD (increase of 3.9%, nominally, relative to 2017).

The largest share of income in money and in kind (all households) refers to the salaries and wages of the employed – 49.1%, pensions – 32.3%, income from agriculture, hunting and fishing – 4.5%, natural consumption – 3.3%, other income – 2.8%, social insurance receipts – 2.7% and 5.3% refers to other receipts.

Regarding the individual consumption expenditures of the households (all households) food and non-alcoholic beverages make the largest share of 34.3%, followed by expenditures related to housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels – 16.7%. Expenditures for transport amounted to 9.3%, for miscellaneous goods and services – 5.9%, for clothing and footwear – 5.3%, for communication – 5.2%, for recreation and culture – 5.1%, for alcoholic beverages and tobacco – 4.9% and 13.3% refers to other groups of individual consumption. 

Of the total number of households envisaged for interview in 2018, (8856 for the Republic of Serbia), the number of 6296 households (71%) were interviewed.
