Information

As of the end of the 2022/2023 and the beginning of the 2023/2024 school year, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia uses data from the register of the Unified Education Information System - JISP. The data for the end of the year represent the situation on the day of August 16, and for the beginning the situation on the day of November 28, 2023. All changes in the JISP database after the mentioned dates are not included in the data published by the Statistical Office.

01. March 2024. Secondary education - beginning of 2023/2024 school year and end of 2022/2023 school year , 2023

According to data from the beginning of the 2023/24 school year in the Republic of Serbia, a total of 226,979 students attended high school education, 225,423 in regular schools, 1,556 in special schools. Almost 98% of students attend classes in public secondary schools, while slightly more than 2% of students attend private schools.

At the end of the 2022/23 school year in the Republic of Serbia, a total of 234,204 students attended classes. Furthermore, 59,128 students graduated from regular high school. The largest percentage of them (58.1) completed a four-year secondary vocational school, 26.3% completed a high school, while 15.6% of secondary school graduates completed a 3-year secondary vocational school. Young people who graduated from professional schools were most interested in profiles from the field of work "electrical engineering" (12.5%), "Economy, law and administration" (11.7%), "health and social protection" (9.6%) and "machinery and metal processing" (9.2%).
