Industrial production indices, April 2020


The industrial production in the Republic of Serbia in April 2020 decreased by 16.6% relative to April 2019, while relative to 2019 average, it decreased by 20.8%. Industrial production in the period January – April 2020 decreased by 0.8% compared to the same period last year.

Observed by sections,

In April 2020 compared with April 2019, the following trends were noted:

  • the section of manufacturing – fall of 19.9%,
  • the section of section of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – fall of 9.9%, and
  • the section of mining and quarrying – fall of 0.1%.

The data on industrial production by MIGS in April 2020, compared to April 2019, expressed fall in the production of:

  • durable consumer goods, by 57.4%,
  • capital goods, by 42.7%,
  • intermediate products, energy excluded, by 20.2%, and
  • non - durable consumer goods, by 16.5%,

while growth was noted in the production of

  • energy, by 2.1%.

Industrial production volume in April 2020, compared to April 2019, expressed the following trends:

  • fall in 22 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 75%,
  • growth in 7 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 25%.

 

The largest influence on industrial production fall in April 2020 compared to April 2019 had the divisions of: manufacture of  rubber and plastic products, manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, manufacture of food products, generation of electricity, and manufacture of beverages.

The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for April 2020, compared to 2019 average, indicates 18.2% fall of the overall industrial production and 22.2% fall of manufacturing.

The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for April 2020, compared to March 2020 average, indicates 17.0% fall of the overall industrial production and 20.4% fall of manufacturing.

The production of small-size enterprises (the number of employees less than 50) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is followed on a sample of the selected units of the section of manufacturing. When the assessment of the industrial production of small-size enterprises of the sample is included, the overall industrial production in April 2020 compared to 2019 average decreased by 20.7% and manufacturing decreased by 24.8%.

The data on the industrial production in 2020 will be published on the last working day in a month and will refer to the previous month.

 

Starting from 1999 the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has not at disposal and may not provide available certain data relative to AP Kosovo and Metohia and therefore these data are not included in the coverage for the Republic of Serbia (total).
