Industrial production indices, December 2019

The industrial production in the Republic of Serbia in December 2019 increased by 8.3% relative to December 2018, and by 5.9% relative to 2018 average. Industrial production in 2019, compared with 2018, increased by 0.3%.

Observed by sections,

in December 2019 compared with December 2018, the following trends were noted:

  • the section of mining and quarrying– growth of 9.6%,
  • the section of manufacturing – growth of 8.3%, and
  • the section of section of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – growth of 7.5%.

The data on industrial production by MIGS in December 2019, compared to December 2018, expressed growth in the production of:

  • capital goods, by 24.9%,
  • durable consumer goods, by 16.0%
  • intermediate products, energy excluded, by 13.3%,
  • energy, by 5.0%, and
  • non - durable consumer goods, by 1.5%.

Industrial production volume in December 2019, compared to December 2018, expressed the following trends:

  • growth in 23 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 87%,
  • fall in 6 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 13%.

The largest influence on industrial production growth in December 2019 compared to December 2018 had the divisions of: manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, generation of electricity, manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, and manufacture of basic metals.   

Industrial production volume in 2019, compared to 2018, expressed the following trends:

  • growth in 16 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 57%,
  • fall in 13 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 43%.

The largest influence on industrial production growth in 2019 compared to 2018 had the divisions of: manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture of rubber and plastic products, manufacture of paper and paper products, and  manufacture of basic metals.

The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for December 2019, compared to 2018 average, indicates 1.4% growth of the overall industrial production and 1.1% growth of manufacturing.

The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for December 2019, compared to November 2019, indicates 0.8% fall of the overall industrial production and 1.8% fall of manufacturing.

The production of small-size enterprises (the number of employees less than 50) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is followed on a sample of the selected units of the section of manufacturing. When the assessment of the industrial production of small-size enterprises of the sample is included, the overall industrial production in December 2019 compared to 2018 average increased by 5.8% and manufacturing increased by 3.1%.

The data on the industrial production in 2020 will be published on the last working day in a month and will refer to the previous month.

Starting from 1999 the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has not at disposal and may not provide available certain data relative to AP Kosovo and Metohia and therefore these data are not included in the coverage for the Republic of Serbia (total).
