The COVID-19 pandemic has led to the postponement and reorganization of a large number of key census activities. Currently, intensive work is being done on the preparation of the Draft Law text on the Amendments to 2021 Law on Census, which will define the new census period, develop procedures for the application of special epidemiological measures during the selection and training of candidates for instructors and enumerators, including measures to be applied during the activity of data collection in emergency conditions; organizational instructions, instructions for enumerators, etc. are being adapted.

Pilot Census 2019
The 2019 Pilot Census was conducted in period from 1 - 30 April 2019 on the sample of 260 selected enumeration areas (EA) in 51 municipality/city.
Basic aim of the Pilot Census 2019 was timely testing all methodological, organizational and IT solutions for implementation of the 2021 Census of population, households, and dwellings.

Based on the results of a comprehensive analysis and risk assessment, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has decided that, due to the unfavourable epidemiological situation, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which may significantly jeopardize the preparations and field implementation of 2021 Census, to delay conduction of this most complex and expensive statistical survey for six months, i.e. to conduct the field implementation of the Census in October 2021 instead of April 2021.Read More
