Drinking water supply, 2018

 

In 2018, for the purpose of drinking water supply, quantity of abstracted water amounted to 654 million m3, which represents 0.8% less water compared to the same period in 2017. From the total volume of abstracted water, 65.4% related to underground and spring water, 26.2% was from watercourses, and 8.4% was the water from lakes and accumulations.
The total water distributed to customers amounted to 424 million m3, which is by 0.2% less water than the amount distributed in 2017.
Water distributed to households amounted to 317 million m3 and it is 74.6% of total distributed water. 45 million m3 were distributed to industrial sector (10.6%), and amount of water distributed to other users was 63 million m3 (14.8%).
Relative to the previous year, insignificantly less water was distributed to households, 2% more water was distributed to industrial sector and 2.7% less water was distributed to other users.
Share of water losses in total water abstraction in 2018 decreased by 1.1% compared to the referent value in 2017.
Length of water supply network in 2018 amounted to 44 361 km, presenting the increase of 2% relative to the previous year.
Number of new users connected to water supply network increased by 0.5% if compared with 2017.
