Exports and imports, January 2019


The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for January 2019 amounted to:

   - USD 3242.9 million - which was an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period 2018;

   - EUR 2840.4 million - which was an increase of 7.8% compared to the same period 2018.

The value of exports amounted to USD 1355.3 million, which was 3.3% decrease when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 1887.6 million, which was 4.6% increase relative to the same period last year.

Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 1186.9 million, which was the increase of 3.0%, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 1653.5 million, which was 11.5% increase when compared to the same period last year.

The deficit amounted to USD 532.3 million, which was an increase of 32.2% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 466.7 million, which was an increase of 40.9% compared to the same period last year.

The export - import ratio equalled 71.8% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 77.7%.

The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 61.8% of total external trade.

Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 117.8 million, resulting mainly from the exports of agricultural products (cereals and produces thereof and various sorts of drinks), oil and oil derivatives, shoes and road vehicles. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 182.1 million, while the imports were USD 64.3 million. The export– import ratio equalled 283.2 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 159.5 and imports to 56.3 million (surplus amounted to EUR 103.2 million and export – import ratio equalled 283.3%).
