External trade, December 2018


The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January - December 2018 amounted to:

   - USD 45109.0 million - which was an increase of 15.9% compared to the same period 2017;

   - EUR 38189.8 million - which was an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period 2017.

The value of exports amounted to USD 19226.5 million, which was 13.1% increase when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 25882.5 million, which was 18.1% increase relative to the same period last year.

Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 16271.4 million, which was the increase of 8.1%, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 21918.4 million, which was 13.0% increase when compared to the same period last year.

The deficit amounted to USD 6655.9 million, which was an increase of 35.2% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 5 647.0 million, which was an increase of 30.0% compared to the same period last year.

The export - import ratio equalled 74.3% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 77.5%.

The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 63.2% of total external trade.

Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 2 247.7 million, resulting mainly from the exports of agricultural products (cereals and produces thereof and various sorts of drinks), oil and oil derivatives, iron and steel and metal products. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 3 344.9 million, while the imports were USD 1 097.2 million. The export– import ratio equalled 304.9 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 2833.7 and imports to 931.1 million (surplus amounted to EUR 1 902.6 million and export – import ratio equalled 304.3%).     

In December 2018, value of exports amounted to USD 1382.6 million, presenting the decrease of 1.4% relative to the same month last year. Value of imports amounted to USD 2141.9 million, being the increase of 5.1% compared to the same month 2017.

Expressed in EUR, value of exports was EUR 1213.8 million, i.e. the increase of 2.4% relative to December 2017 and value of imports was EUR 1880.9 million, being the increase of 9.2%, relative the same month last year.
