During the third quarter of 2018, registered number of the employed reached the level of 2 146 842 persons. Relative to the same quarter of the previous year, total registered employment increased by 3.3%, i.e. by 69 268 persons.

Observed by the modalities of employment, there were 1 991 285 employed in “long-term employment”, in “temporary and occasional employment” there were 77 991 persons, while the number of registered individual agricultural producers was 77 566.

Employment was primarily increased in the category of “long-term employment”, where growth of 3.7% (71 661 persons) was recorded.

Territorially observed, increased employment prevailed in Region Vojvodine and in Beogradski region.

The sections of activity with the largest increase in the number of the employed are Manufacturing (growth of 27 646 persons), Administrative and support service activities (growth of 13 689 persons), Construction (growth of 7 720 persons), Accommodation and food service activities (growth of 7 075 persons) and Wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (growth of 6 459 persons). 

In the mentioned period, number of the employed in public sector was decreased by 6 941.
