Industrial production indices, September 2018

 

The industrial production in the Republic of Serbia in September 2018 increased by 3.5% relative to 2017 average and in the period January - September 2018, when compared to the same period 2017, it increased by 2.3%. Manufacturing recorded the increase of 7.9% in September 2018 relative to 2017 average and in the period January – September 2018, compared to the same period 2017, the increase of 2.7% was recorded. Industrial production in the Republic of Serbia, in September 2018 decreased by 1.2% relative to September 2017.

Observed by sections,

in September 2018 compared with September 2017, the following trends were noted:

  • the section of manufacturing – growth of 1.2%,
  • the section of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – fall of 8.9%, and
  • the section of mining and quarrying – fall of 10.0%,

in the period January – September 2018, relative to the same period 2017, the trends were noted as follows:

  • the section of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – growth of 3.6%,
  • the section of manufacturing – growth of 2.7%, and
  • the section of mining and quarrying – fall of 4.5%.

The data on industrial production by MIGS in September 2018, compared to September 2017, expressed growth in the production of:

  • capital goods, by 3.2%, and
  • intermediate products, energy excluded, by 0.6%,

while fall was noted for

  • non - durable consumer goods, by 1.1%,
  • energy, by 4.0% and
  • durable consumer goods, by 8.2%.

Industrial production volume in September 2018, compared to September 2017, expressed the following trends:

  • fall in 16 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 68%,
  • growth in 13 divisions that in the structure of industrial production participate with 32%.

The largest influence on industrial production fall in September 2018 compared to September 2017 had the divisions of: generation of electricity, mining of coal, manufacture of food products, manufacture of tobacco products and manufacture of electrical equipment.     

The seasonally adjusted industrial production index for September 2018, compared to 2017 average, indicates 3.0% growth of the overall industrial production and 4.5% growth of manufacturing.

The seasonal adjustment of the industrial production index for September 2018, compared to August 2018, indicates 3.1% growth of the overall industrial production and 2.3% growth of manufacturing.

The production of small-size enterprises (the number of employees less than 50) that were not included in regular statistical surveys is followed on a sample of the selected units of the section of manufacturing. When the assessment of the industrial production of small-size enterprises of the sample is included, the overall industrial production in September 2018 compared to 2017 average increased by 3.4% and manufacturing increased by 7.8%.

The data on the industrial production in 2018 will be published on the last working day in a month and will refer to the previous month. 

Starting from 1999 the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has not at disposal and may not provide available certain data relative to AP Kosovo and Metohia and therefore these data are not included in the coverage for the Republic of Serbia (total).
