External trade, August 2018


The overall external trade in the Republic of Serbia for the period January - August 2018 amounted to:

   - USD 29808.0 million - which was an increase of 20.7% compared to the same period 2017;

   - EUR 24883.2 million - which was an increase of 11.0 % compared to the same period 2017.


The value of exports amounted to USD 12852.4 million, which was 18.0% increase when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 16955.6 million, which was 22.9% increase relative to the same period last year.

Expressed in Euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 10730.3 million, which was the increase of 8.5%, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 14152.9 million, which was 13.0% increase when compared to the same period last year.

The deficit amounted to USD 4103.2 million, which was an increase of 41.3% in relation to the same period last year. The deficit expressed in Euros amounted to 3422.6 million, which was an increase of 30.0% compared to the same period last year.

The export - import ratio equalled 75.8% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 79.0%.

The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which we have signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 63.7% of total external trade.

Our second major partner refers to the CEFTA countries, since our gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 1547.3 million, resulting mainly from the exports of agricultural products (cereals and produces thereof and various sorts of drinks), iron and steel, oil and oil derivatives and road vehicles. Our exports in the referent period amounted to USD 2 241.2 million, while the imports were USD 693.9 million. The export– import ratio equalled 323.0 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 1 874.0 and imports to 580.2 million (surplus amounted to EUR 1 293.8 million and export – import ratio equalled 323.0%).   

In August 2018, value of exports amounted to USD 1 479.8 million, presenting the increase of 5.8% relative to the same month last year. Value of imports amounted to USD 2 039.5 million, being the increase of 12.8% compared to the same month 2017.

Expressed in EUR, value of exports was EUR 1285.1 million, i.e. the increase of 8.2% relative to August 2017 and value of imports was EUR 1770.4 million, being the increase of 15.3%, relative to July 2017.
